Hello and Welcome
My name is Stefanie Garcia. I’m a Columbus Indiana portrait and branding photographer. My business started over 20 years ago when I roped my sister into photographing a wedding I accidently booked (a funny story for another day).
Despite never having been to a wedding before things worked out really well and we went on to photograph many weddings and portraits after that.
I’m also a Mom to my son Luka. I always say that his existence made me the woman I am today. He’s autistic, has Adhd and dyslexia. Watching him overcome the challenges in his life have inspired me so much. It has also influenced my work as a photographer. For so long Luka didn’t make eye contact so getting a photo where he looked at the camera was impossible. He also wasn’t able to pose or follow the prompts I gave. I had to embrace that. When I did, my style of photography was born. Now I have a natural ability of being able to capture who someone authentically is on camera.
More Tidbits About Me:
I’m Puerto Rican (from my Dad) and German (from my Mom)
I have two sisters and one brother.
I grew up in Southern California until I was a teenager and then Indiana for the second half of my teenage years before moving to New Orleans and Colorado.
I ran Track and Field most of my life.
I didn’t start out wanting to be a photographer. I actually wanted to be a doctor.
About Ania Photo
For 15 years, I’d go into women’s closets helping them to get ready for their photo shoots.
All that time I didn’t think much about what I was doing, until one day, I began to notice something different.
Something I hadn’t seen before…
BRANDING PHOTOGRAPHY
FAMILY PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY
—
10% of their clothes were actually them and 90% was filler.
That 90%, would consist of things they got on sale, items that didn’t quite fit, stuff they thought they “should” wear, clothes that were close to what their friends were wearing or things they were “expected” to put on.
It dawned on me just how much women were hiding their True Selves.
So I began to take that 10% and do photo shoots around them.
…and you know what happened?
Those women began to Blossom.
Suddenly, these big smiles would come across their face. They would become more playful, fun, frisky…and free.
It was amazing to witness.
Giving a woman space to blossom into who she truly is the reason I do what I do.
